Gunshots Fired in Ithaca

Ithaca police are investigating a report of shots being fired Saturday night. It happened in the area of Wood and South Plain Streets at about 8:45. Two police officers arrived on the scene a few minutes later. Several witnesses report seeing two SUVs, one black and one silver, stopped on Wood Street facing west. A person was seen outside the black SUV, firing several shots. The silver vehicle then backed up quickly, nearly hitting a pedestrian who twisted an ankle getting out of the way. The black SUV was last seen turning north on South Meadow Street. Police believe the silver SUV may have been hit by gunshots.
