We learned earlier this week the Watkins Glen School District had been awarded a million dollar federal physical education grant to implement a program called PIVOT or Physical Activity is Vital to Our Tomorrow. The program is meant to get young kids and teens more physically active. We asked Superintendent Tom Phillips when the program would be ready for implementation.
Phillips says the program is meant for students to put down the phones, and step away from their computers and video game systems and get outdoors.
The grant will also allow the village of Watkins Glen to reinstate its Summer Recreation Program.
