UPDATE: Police Identify Remains Found At State Park

2:15pm Update-

A Syracuse man, missing for two years, has been identified by police as the person whose skeletal remains were found yesterday at Taughannock Falls State Park.  41-year old Brian Austin went missing in 2011.  State Police in Ithaca have not yet said how Austin died or why his remains were at the state park.

Police are investigating the discovery of human skeletal remains in a state park in Tompkins County.

The remains were found Wednesday in a wooded area in Taughannock Falls State Park near Trumansburg. State police as well as the New York State Park Police are working the case.

Investigators are currently working with the Binghamton University Anthropology Department. The investigation is continuing.

Taughannock Falls State Park is in the Town of Ulysses.
