Canandaigua Woman Struck by Car in Guarded Condition

A 50 year old woman remains in guarded condition with head and spinal injuries after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Rt. 364 last night. about 6:30 PM, between Lakeshore Drive and County Road 18 in Canandaigua.   The Ontario County Sheriff's office says Maryann Taddonio of Canandaigua was wearing dark clothing and headed east to west across the highway in a dimly-lighted area where there is no crosswalk.   A 2004 Ford Windstar, operated by 43 year old Edwin Nemitz of Middlesex, was traveling in the southbound lane of Route 364 when his car struck Taddonio - throwing her on the hood of the van.  She bounced off the van and landed on the highway and was treated at the scene by Canandaigua Ambulance.  Taddonio was flown to Strong Memorial by Mercy Flight.  Nemitz and his two passengers were not injured; all three were wearing seat belts.   The accident is currently under investigation, but drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the collision, according to sheriff's deputies.
