UPDATE: 33 Arrested For Welfare Fraud In Cayuga County

Cayuga County DA Jon Budelman and local law enforcement targeted 33 people Wednesday for  arrest for  Welfare and Public Assistance Fraud and related crimes. 20 had been brought into custody by noon time.

Budelman tells us the suspects have cost the county thousands. He told out Joe Nittler if convicted most would be disquailified for future benefits .

Charges range from Grand and petit larceny to filing false business records and  food stamp abuse.

33 suspects charged

• Chelsea Albanese, 25, 108 W. Cortland St., Groton, was charged with third-degree grand larceny, third-degree welfare fraud and misuse of food stamps.

• Linda Bates, 55, 125 S. Fulton St., Auburn, was charged with third-degree grand larceny, third-degree welfare fraud and fourth-degree offering a false instrument for filing.

• Dakota Beckwith, 27, Moravia, was charged with third-degree grand larceny, medicaid fraud and third-degree welfare fraud.

• Shelaine Best, 24, 4620 North St., Marcellus, charged with fourth-degree grand grand larceny and fourth-degree welfare fraud.

• Abigail Bower, 27, 36 Liberty St., Auburn, charged with third-degree grand larceny, third-degree welfare fraud, offering a false instrument for filing and misuse of food stamps.

• Kimberly Chamberlain, 24, 46 Pulaski St., Auburn, charged with third-degree grand larceny, third-degree welfare fraud, five counts offering a false instrument for filing and misuse of food stamps.

• David Coughlin, 29, 21 Kensington Ave., Auburn, charged with fifth-degree welfare fraud and petit larceny.

• Jody Lee Couturier, 32, 78 Owasco St. #1, Auburn, charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree welfare fraud, offering a false instrument for filing and misuse of food stamps.

• Rosemary Farrar Jennings, address unknown, arrested.

• Benjamin Gray, 32, 9 Belmont Ave, Auburn, charged with third-degree grand larceny, third-degree welfare fraud and misuse of food stamps.

• Jennifer Gray, 37, 9 Belmont Ave., Auburn, charged with  third-degree grand larceny, third-degree welfare fraud, misuse of food stamps and seven counts offering a false instrument for filing.

• Tiffany Gushlaw, 24, 2 Fall St. #5, charged with fifth-degree welfare fraud and petit larceny.

• Jacquie Howes, 23, Budget Inn #30, Auburn, charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree welfare fraud, eight counts of offering a false instrument for filing and misuse of food stamps.

• Andy Keegan, 51, 195 Henderson, Weedsport, charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree welfare fraud, eight counts of offering a false instrument for filing and misuse of food stamps.

• Erika Leonard, 33, West Lake MHP, #32, Fleming, charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree welfare fraud, offering a false instrument for filing and misuse of food stamps.

• Lisa Loperfido, 31, 218 Janet St., Auburn, charged with third-degree grand larceny, third-degree welfare fraud, offering a false instrument for filing and misuse of food stamps.

• Charles Lucas, 32, 13829 Martville Rd., Martville, charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree welfare fraud, offering a false instrument for filing and medicaid fraud.

• Ryan Manwaring, 27, 961 Sovocool Hill Rd., Groton, charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree welfare fraud and medicaid fraud.

• Eddie Murphy, 44, 3 Holley St. #B, Auburn, charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree welfare fraud, offering a false instrument for filing and misuse of food stamps.

• Angela Myers, 34, 90 Orchard St., Auburn, charged with offering a false instrument for filing, misuse of food stamps and welfare fraud.

• Robert Nevidomsky, 47, 12 Logan St., Auburn, charged with fifth-degree welfare fraud, petit larceny and misuse of food stamps.

• Nikki Nowark, 35, 72 Francis St., Auburn, charged with fifth-degree welfare fraud, misuse of food stamps and petit larceny.

• Sara Olson, 24, 1227 Spring St., Cayuga, charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, and fourth-degree welfare fraud (day care).

• Jeramie Paul, 30, 16 Church St., Auburn, charged with fourth-degree welfare fraud and petit larceny.

• Jacque Podeswik, 27, Cayuga County Jail, charged with offering a false instrument for filing and misuse of food stamps.

• Erica Roberts, 24, 76 Owasco St., Auburn, charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree welfare fraud.

• Anthony Rossi, 30, 218 Janet St., Auburn, third-degree grand larceny, third-degree day care welfare fraud, offering a false instrument for filing and misuse of food stamps.

• Carol Ryan, 70, 195 Henderson, Weedsport, charged with third-degree grand larceny, third-degree welfare fraud, misuse of food stamps.

• Jasmine Smith, 27, 131 Olympia Terrace, Auburn, charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree day care welfare fraud.

• Jennifer Vargas, 21, 54 Cananden #4, Auburn, charged with fifth-degree welfare fraud, misuse of food stamps, petit larceny and two counts offering of a false instrument for filing.

• Danielle Volles, 27, 12772 Broadway, Martville, charged with third-degree grand larceny, third-degree welfare fraud, misuse of food stamps, medicaid fraud and six counts offering a false instrument for filing.

• Bobbie Weaver, 41, address unknown, charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree welfare fraud, offering a false instrument for filing and misuse of food stamps.

• Raymond Weaver, 41, 2 Beach Ave., Auburn, charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree welfare fraud, offering a false instrument for filing and misuse of food stamps.

A 4 PM news conference has been called by Cayuga County DA Jon Budelman centering on a sweep in which dozens of Cayuga County residents have been arrested for all types of Welfare and Public Assistance Fraud and related crimes.

 

 

 

Members of the  Cayuga County Health Department  , the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Department, the Auburn City Police, The New York State Police, the Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office and the United States Marshals took part in a massive sweep .


The news briefing is being held in the Legislative Chambers on the 6th floor of the Cayuga County Office Building in Auburn.
