Canandaigua Lake Fish Kill Declining

Whatever's been killing fish in Canandaigua Lake is killing fewer of them lately.  The DEC sent some of the dead fish to Cornell's fish pathology lab, which says the fish were not killed by the VHS virus, which affects fish, but not people.  That virus has been linked to a fish kill in Irondequoit Bay.  Residents along Canandaigua Lake began noticing fish washing up on shore a few weeks ago.  Anyone spotting large numbers of dead fish should call Canandaigua Lake Watershed Inspector Kevin Olvany at (585) 396-3630 or the DEC office in Avon at (585) 226-2466.
