Alice Lockner Scott

NEWARK - Alice Lockner Scott, 93, died on Friday, August 16, 2013 peacefully at her home.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday (Aug. 19) at the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home, Inc., 124 W. Miller St., Newark. A Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 20) at the funeral home with The Rev. Gail Heimberger officiating. Private burial in Big Flats Rural Home Cemetery.

Mrs. Scott was born the daughter of the late Henry E. and Louise (Ford) Lockner on Friday August 22, 1919 in Sodus Center, N.Y. She graduated from Elmira College, receiving her BS Degree in Nursing and she was a Registered Professional Nurse. Following Elmira College she attended the University of Rochester receiving her Master's Degree in Education and completed a NYS Education Grant Doctoral Level Program for Health Administrators at Cornell University. Mrs. Scott was a School Nurse Teacher in the Newark Central Schools for 21 years serving in each school building in Newark. She also worked as Department Head for Health Services and retired as the K - 12 Instructional Supervisor for Health Education and Health Services.
Mrs. Scott held many professional memberships and offices and was very active in school, church and community organizations. She was a former member and state official of the New York State School Nurse Teachers Supervisors Section, a former member and officer of the American Association of University Women, Delta Kappa Gamma Society for Out standing Women Educa tors, past President of the Wayne County Retired Teachers Association and the New York State Retired Teachers Associa tion, Central Western Zone. Mrs. Scott was a retired member of the Tuesday Club of Newark, a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International and a long standing member of Park Presbyterian Church in Newark.
Mrs. Scott with her husband, the late B. David Scott owned and operated the Scott Funeral Home now known as the Norman L. Waterman Funeral Home in Newark.
Mrs. Scott will be remembered by her son David B. Scott of Penfield.
