Clifton Springs - Betty A. Hoyt Baker passed away on Monday (Oct. 7, 2013) at the House of John. Friends may call Thursday (Oct. 10) from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church, 1 West Main Street, Clifton Springs. A Celebration of Betty's life will be 11 a.m. Friday (Oct. 11) at church. Burial will be in Warsaw Cemetery. Friends may contribute to the House of John in Betty's memory.
Betty was born Feb. 7, 1926, in Warsaw, N.Y., the daughter of the late Harry R. and Gladys M. Hoyt Sr. She was a member of the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Rebecca's, and was a former Girl Scout Leader. Betty was a member of the Clifton Springs Hospital Ladies Auxiliary for over 50 years. She enjoyed camping, country western music and all types of dancing. Betty loved her westerns, especially John Wayne.
Betty is survived by her children, Dennis M. Baker and Karen (Denzel) Parker-Suggs; grandchildren, Michele (Ronald) Ambraski, Dennis M. Baker Jr., Brian J. Baker, Eric T. (Amy) Parker and Kimberly J. Parker; great-grandchildren, Emma N. Parker, Bradley S. Parker, Tanya Burt and Justine Ambraski; great-great-grandchildren, Michaela Burt and Shian Burt; sister, Patricia Benedict; several nieces and nephews.
Betty is predeceased by her husband, Melvin D. "Shorty" Baker; brothers, Carl, Harry, and Rod Hoyt; sisters, Marie Kennedy, Barbara J. Redden, Beverly J. Williams and Rena M. Shak; son-in-law, Frederick L. Parker.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Patrick Funeral Home, Clifton Springs.
