Peacefully, surrounded by family, Bob passed away at Clifton Springs Hospital on February 4th, 2017. Predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Helen Ann Dodd Sullivan; daughter, Kathleen; son, Michael; grandson, Justin Ebert; brother, Patrick Sullivan; brother and sister-in-law, Jack (Janice) Sullivan; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jean (Bill) Koval and brother-in-law Leo Dodd.

Bob is survived by his daughters: Maureen (Ralph) Ebert, Colleen Sullivan, and Karen (John) Griffin. He leaves grandchildren: Jeremy (Erin) Ebert, Jennifer Ebert, Erin (Nathanial) Michniacki, Matt (Adrienne) Nolan, Kevin (Stefanie) Nolan, Sarah (Jake) Minns, Anna Sullivan and several great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Claudia Sullivan; sister-in-law, Mary Dodd; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Bob graduated from Dundee Central School, then immediately enlisted in the US Navy to serve in WWII. He served on the USS Smartt and later on an Escort Destroyer. Following his military service, he attended a trade school in NYC. He was a Business Agent for the Operating Engineer's Union Local 832, covering the Southern Tier Region.

Bob and his wife raised their 5 children on their farm in Dundee. Bob "retired" from his job with the Local 832, to his farm of over 200 acres where he continued to grow crops and raise cattle and chickens, well into his 80's. He was a walking historian. He loved meeting folks and sharing stories.

He was an active member of St. Andrew’s / St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Bob was a member and past president of the Herford Association. Many summers were spent transporting kids and cattle to various fairgrounds for competition. He served several years on the Board for the Letts Memorial Home. Bob and his late wife, Helen, were active in Yates County square dancing.

The family would like to extend an appreciation and a heart felt thank you to Dr. Farnsworth and staff from the wound clinic and hospital staff at Clifton Springs Hospital for his care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Yates County ARC, St. Michael’s School or the Dundee / Clifton Springs Ambulance / Fire Department(s).

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2017 from 4-7 at Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel in Penn Yan. A memorial mass will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Penn Yan.
