Joan (Walsh) Gelinas Beloved mother, grandmother, friend CANANDAIGUA - Joan (Walsh) Gelinas, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Hospeace House in Naples, with her family by her side. She is survived by two sons, Jeffry (Judy) Gelinas and Gregg (Kelly) Gelinas; daughter, Linda (Dennis) Green; daughter-in-law, Christine Gelinas; 12 grandchildren; brother, Jack (Kay) Walsh; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband, George Gelinas; two sons, Steven and Michael Gelinas; brother, Charles Walsh; and sister, Lorraine Gibbons. Mrs. Gelinas was born and raised in Boston, Mass. and was the daughter of John and Esther (Cushing) Walsh. She and her husband and family moved to Canandaigua in 1957. Mrs. Gelinas was employed at the Daily Messenger for many years. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and St. Vincent dePaul Society at the church. Mrs. Gelinas enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with her family and friends. Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua.
