NEWARK - Pat Dhondt, 85, died on Saturday (May 5, 2012) at the Wayne County Nursing Home.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday (May 7th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday (May 8th) at St. Michael's Church, South Main Street, Newark. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery.
Memorials, in her memory, may be made to the Wayne County Humane Society, 1475 County House Road, Lyons 14489 or to a favorite charity .
Pat was born on January 4, 1927 in Phelps, the daughter of the late August and Stephanie DeVries Bogaerd. She retired from Garlock, Inc. in 1981 where she had been a long-time employee. A communicant of St. Michael's Church, Pat gave time and energy to numerous activities, especially the rummage sales. She had been a member of the St. Michael's Mothers Club. For several years, she played in the Garlock Golf League. She spent many happy hours playing cards with family and friends. Family gatherings and camping trips were especially joyful occasions for her. Pat also had a great love for animals.
She is survived by her children, Terry (Judith) Lootens and Karen (Ed) Hansen of Newark; grandchildren, Kyle and Emma Hansen, Kevin Lund, Darcy Lootens, Brooke and Bryan Dhondt; seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Pat was predeceased by her husbands John Lootens in 1975 and Clifford Dhondt in 1993; her brother George Bogaerd and sister Emma Rommell.
