DRESDEN - Betty J. Vermilye, 80, long time resident of Dresden, N.Y. passed away Thursday (May 10th, 2012) at Highland Hospital in Rochester.
Friends and family may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday (May 14) at the Townsend-Wood Funeral Chapel, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan. A funeral celebrating her life will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Tuesday (May 15) with The Rev. Marilyn Wood officiating. A private interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Penn Yan.

Betty was born in Penn Yan, N.Y. on February 5th, 1932, the daughter of the late, Henry and Eva (Phillips) Charlsen. Betty attended Willard Nursing School and worked at Willard Hospital until she began raising her family. Betty was an avid collector and enjoyed playing Bingo and gardening. Betty was a loving mother and grandmother.
Betty is survived by her loving children, Lesa (Kevin) Anderson, Dan (Tab) Vermilye, Lori (Ross) Tuccio, Kelly (Jeff) Tyler, Tina (Dale) Christensen, and Scott (Tammy) Vermilye; 13 grandchildren, one great- grandchild; her siblings, Edna Reiners, Marilyn Oswald, Colleen Wight, and Bruce Charlsen; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles (Bud) Vermilye and her grandson, Jason Vermilye.
