NEWARK - William R. Viola, 84, of W. Sherman Ave., passed away May 19, 2012.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday (May 23) at Schulz-Pusateri Funeral Home, 103 Maple Ct., Newark. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. Michael's Church, Newark. Burial in Newark Cemetery with military rites accorded.

Bill was born in Newark, March 26, 1928, son of Robert and Frances Micksic Viola. He worked for the NYC Railroad in the signal Dept., and built houses for many years. He operated BJ Furniture in Newark for over 35 years. He served in the Army Air Force. He loved to hunt and he loved people and being with family. Member of St. Michael's Church.
Survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Elizabeth (Betty) (Barberi) Viola; son, Paul of Newark; granddaughter, Jennifer Shaw; great-grandson, Spencer Shaw; two brothers, Thomas (Gloria) and Anthony Viola of Newark; two sisters, Barbara DiPillo of Geneva and Frances Curtis of Newark; nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by sister, Catherine Wescott; brothers, Frank and Donald Viola.
