AUBURN | Clifford L. Martin, 82, of Cherry Street Road, Auburn, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at Auburn Community Hospital. Born in Ogdensburg, on June 8, 1929, Clifford was the son of the late Royal Lee Martin and Alice B. Johnson Martin. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving his country at the conclusion of World War II. He had been employed as a heavy equipment operator with a union local out of Syracuse. He worked on various projects in the area, including the St. Lawrence Seaway. Together with his late wife, Margaret "Peg" English Martin, Clifford owned and operated Skaneateles Realty. He was an avid hunter, a former member of the Skaneateles Mason's Lodge and loved horseback riding. He raised quarter horses and was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. As much as he loved horses and the outdoors, his greatest love was his family. Clifford is survived by his two daughters, Tracey Baker and Meg Hinman; two sons, Thomas Martin and Greg Martin, all of Auburn; his children's mother, Diane O'Hora, of Florida; grandchildren, Scott Martin and Nichele Gonzales; a great-granddaughter, Emelia Gonzales; his stepchildren, John and Judy English, of Otisco, Betsy English, of Camillus, Kathy and Ward Mitchell and Katie, of Auburn, Colleen, Erin and Catie Brereton, and their mother, Patricia Ryan; a daughter-in-law, Tina Coville. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1:15 p.m. Saturday, in Soule Cemetery, Sennett. Friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, at White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South St., Auburn.
