Augustus William Sainsbury CANANDAIGUA - Augustus William Sainsbury, M.D, passed away peacefully on Nov. 3, 2012. He was predeceased by his wife, Isobel Smith Sainsbury, M.D.; brother, Dr. Leonard R. Sainsbury; and sister, Euphemia Sainsbury. Dr. Sainsbury is survived by his two sons and a daughter, David (Althea) Sainsbury of Shortsville, Anne (Rodney) Smith of Canandaigua and Scott (Patricia) Sainsbury of Moretown, Vt.; grandchildren, Mark (Amy) Sainsbury, Bill (Melissa) Sainsbury, Eric (Amy) Smith, Dana (Molly) Smith, M.D., Jared (Daniela, M.D.) Smith, Jacqueline Sainsbury and Walter Sainsbury; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. The family is grateful to Thompson Health for the kind and compassionate care he received. Dr. Sainsbury will be remembered most for his modest Midwestern ways; his devotion to medicine; his lifelong love of learning; his sense of humor; and the joy his singing brought to his beloved family and friends. A memorial service will be held in celebration of Dr. Sainsbury's life on Friday, December 7, at 1 p.m., at First Congregational Church, 58 N. Main St., Canandaigua. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Arrangements are by Sainsbury Funeral Home, Shortsville.
