Phelps/Coon Rapids, MInn. - Lida V. Secor, age 85, formerly of Phelps, died on Wednesday (November 14, 2012) at the Select Senior Living Center in Coon Rapids, Minn.
Friends may call on Friday (Nov.23) from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Cheney Funeral Home 70 Main Street Phelps. Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Geneva Methodist Church 340 Main Street Geneva, N.Y. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery in Phelps.
Mrs. Secor was born on August 28, 1927 in Geneva, N.Y. the daughter of the late Arthur and Albie Reed Vosburg. She attended Keuka College for a year and went on to graduate from the U of R School of Nursing as an RN in 1948. She married her husband Stanley Secor the same year. She was very involved with her husband on the family farm and also worked as nursing
supervisor at Geneva General Hospital from where she retired. Mrs. Secor loved being a nurse and was a caretaker at heart till the end of her life.
Mrs. Secor was a long time member of the Geneva Methodist Church and was active in the choir. She loved to work in her flower garden, she enjoyed crafts and oil painting. She and her husband wintered in Arizona until his death in 1988. She continued to travel to Arizona until 2004 when she could no longer make the trip.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn (David) Facer of Coon Rapids, Minn.; son, Stephen Secor of Phelps; grandchildren, Jonathan (Nicole) Krueger, Rebecca (Susan) Facer, John (Jonathan) Hale, Joshua (Anne) Facer, Gregory (Kelly) Hale; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Ella Cripps of Geneva; sister-in-law, Doris Secor; and brother-in-law; Roger (Carol) Secor;
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley; and daughter-in-law, Dorothy Secor.
