NEWARK - Alice A. (Greenleaf) Freelove, age 87, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother is now embraced in her Savior's arms.
A memorial service will be held at the family's convenience next spring at Woodlane Community church in Newark, N.Y. where she is a member.

Alice was born in Ithaca, New York, September 25, 1925, the daughter of Lester and Hazel Greenleaf. She graduated from Cortland High School in Cortland, N.Y. Alice married Allen P. Freelove in 1945.
Alice was a fulltime mother and loved by her five children, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren! Alice was an active member in any church she belonged to. She was President of the Presbyterian Classis, an elder, a Leader in the Walk to Emmaus, choir director, a biblical scholar, and was a Lovey, a Christian Clown. She was also an avid gardener, had a passion for bridge, loved to read and was a devoted Yankee and Syracuse Basketball fan.
She was a member of a Newark Rose City Ensemble who sang at the 1964 World's Fair in New York. She was a nun in Newark's local production of "The Sound of Music," worked part time The Courier Gazette newspaper, sold real-estate, and worked part time at the Home of the Good Shepard in Savannah, N.Y. - a nursing home. She brought joy to anyone she knew!
Upon retirements, she and Allen moved to Hendersonville, N.C., where Allen and her mother, Hazel are buried.
Her most memorable trip was to the Holy Land - she was baptized in the Jordan River and experiences the same walk that Jesus did.
She is survived by her son, George L. Freelove (Marlene), Douglas G. Freelove (Dawn); her daughter, Cynthia Timerson (Bradley); seven grandchildren, Michael Timerson, Rebecca Timerson Schusler, Todd Freelove (Tina), Ryan Freelove, Katie Freelove Nelms (John), Melissa Smith, Larry Smith; and her five great-grandchildren, Aiden Bertrand, Donald and Kali Freelove, Elijah Schusler and Clayton Nelms.
She was predeceased by her husband, Allen; her children, Rebecca FreeloveSmith abd Stephen Freelove; her parents, Lester and Hazel Greenleaf; and her sister, Patricia Rohan. She now joins them in peace and tranquility.
The family would like to thank: the staff and her beloved friends at Vienna Gardens where she lived for six years. Your kindnesses are special memories for us!!! A very special thank you to her aides, Jen and Pat - you made her smile each and every day and helped us so much with her care! You all made her life easier! We would also like to thank her final church family - Woodlane Community Church who opened their arms of compassion, she loved you all.
