GENEVA - Sarah Burrall Suppes, ("Sally"), 81, died peacefully at her home, surrounded by family, on December 31, 2012.
At Sally's request, there are no prior calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Saturday (January 5) at 11 a.m. in Trinity Episcopal Church in Geneva.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Linden Exchange at Trinity Church or To Alzheimer's Research.
Sally was born in Geneva, the daughter of the late Helen Woods Burrall and Hallett Jenkins Burrall Sr., and was a lifelong resident of the area. She attended Geneva schools and graduated from the Grier School in Pennsylvania. Sally then lived and worked in New York City and traveled in Europe before coming back home to Geneva, where she married her husband, Chester A. Suppes Jr. (Chet) in 1957.
Sally was very active in the Geneva community, forming many friends through her dedicated and spirited work as the Director of Volunteers at Geneva General Hospital, the Assistant Administrator at Rose Hill Mansion and years of volunteer work at the Linden Exchange, Trinity Church, Seneca Yacht Club, and Geneva General Hospital.
She is survived by her daughters, Lauren Valkenburgh of Elmira, Martha (Jim) Tiballi of Geneva, and Sarah (Jeff) Hanson of Pittsford; grandchildren, Stacey and Rick Valkenburgh; and stepgrandchildren Ellie and Lyz Hanson, and many nieces and nephews and their children.
She was predeceased by her husband Chet in 2001; her brother, Hallett "Pete" (1993); and sister, Barbara (2009).
The family is also very grateful for the extraordinary and compassionate care given by Leave it to Me Home Services enabling Sally to stay at home until her death.
