Edmund L. Rollins

Geneva - Edmund L. Rollins, 83, of Geneva passed away Friday (January 4, 2013) at the Geneva Living Center North.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday (Jan 7) at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home 45 High St. Geneva. Members of the American Legion will meet at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday (Jan 8) at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Veterans Section in Glenwood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen's Church or the Yates County Humane Society, PO Box 12 Penn Yan, 14527.
Edmund was born on October 5, 1929 in Nashville, Tenn. the son of the late Jewel and Mary Kimbo Rollins. He was a WWII Veteran who spent 29 and half years in the service retiring from the Army in 1975, as a Chief Warrant Officer. He served overseas in the occupational forces in Japan and served in Austria, Hawaii, CZ and did two tours in Vietnam. Edmund received the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, three Army Commendation Medals with 2 OLC, WWII Victory Medal, Occupation Medal (Japan & Europe), Good Conduct Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with palm. After retirement from the Army he continued to work at the Seneca Army Depot until his second retirement in 1991.
He was active in St. Stephen's Church serving on the Parish Council and later as the Secretary of the council for a year. For many years he was a member of the choir and volunteered to work on Building & Grounds. He was a member of the Finger Lakes Chapter of Retired Officer's Assoc., serving as secretary for years, Winnek post 396 American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, I. Jean; daughters, Elizabeth Rollins (Al) Stevens, Deborah (Wayne) Harris, Sioux (Jeff) Cummings and Mary Rollins (Ted) Parker all of Massachusetts; step son, Douglas Hey of Penfield; grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Massachusetts; stepgrandson and great-grandson of Canandaigua; sister, Jenny (Ralph) Rule of Knoxville, Tenn.
Edmund was predeceased by a sister, Sarah Wilson; and brothers, Ben and John Rollins
