Lyndon R. Herendeen SHORTSVILLE - Lyndon R. Herendeen, 88, died peacefully on Jan. 15, 2013, at Clifton Springs Hospital. He is survived by his three children, David (Lynda) Herendeen of Media, Pa., Doug (Barb) Herendeen of New Palestine, Ind. and Bruce (Sharon) Herendeen of Farmington; two grandchildren, Dana (Michael) DeGrande of Mullica Hill, N.J. and Michael Herendeen of Columbia, Mo.; two brothers, Carl (Phyllis) Herendeen of Brentwood, Calif. and Glenn (Charlotte) Herendeen of East Rochester; two sisters, Dorothy (Melvin) Nessinger of Shortsville and Cealia White of Macedon; and 22 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Leona, in 2010; and brothers, Jim, in 2009, and Floyd, in 2012. Lyndon was born on July 13, 1924. He retired as postmaster of Shortsville Post Office in 1981. He was a member of the National Association of Postmasters. Lyndon proudly served his nation during World War II in the 793rd Army Military Police Battalion and enjoyed monthly luncheon meetings with his fellow army veterans. He was also the Scoutmaster of Troop 49 in Shortsville for over 20 years and a member of Twin Cities Lions Club. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Sainsbury Funeral Home, 78 W. Main St., Shortsville. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 59 W. Main St., Shortsville. Spring interment will be in South Farmington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Ontario-Yates Hospice, 756 Pre-emption Road, Geneva, NY 14456.
