AUBURN | Frank E. Carmody, 94, of 46 Kearney Ave., Auburn, passed away on Jan. 16, 2013, at Auburn Community Hospital. A lifelong resident of Auburn, Frank was born on Dec. 12, 1918, the son of Frank and Alice Barry Carmody. A graduate of Auburn East High School, Auburn Community College and a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He had retired from Mercy Health and Rehabilitation Center, Auburn. His wife, Barbara Campbell Carmody, whom he married in May 1942, predeceased him on Dec. 31, 1995. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Church, Highland Park Country Club, and the Knights of Columbus. Surviving children are, Barry Carmody (Sandra Burkhart), of Auburn, Arden (Harold) Mumford, of Rome N.Y. and Barbara (Patricia Brown) Carmody, of Kissimmee, Fla.; grandchildren, Shawn (Gail) Carmody, Jane (Tim) Attley, Colleen (Jack) Armstrong, Laura (Jack) O'Connor and Craig Mumford; one sister, Alice (Richard) Blair, of Port Byron; six great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also predeceased by his sister, Sister Ann Francis Carmody. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, in St. Alphonsus Church with the Rev. Louis Vasile, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan.18, 2013, at Farrell's Funeral Service, Inc., 84 South St., Auburn. Memorials may be made to the St. Alphonsus Food Pantry.
