UNION SPRINGS | Nancy I. Tanner, 72, of Union Springs, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013 at Upstate University Hospital, Syracuse, following a brief illness. Nancy was born in Auburn on March 28, 1940, the daughter of the late William T. III and Margaret (Connell) Tanner. She was a faithful communicant of St. Michael's Church and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Nancy was employed by Beacon Milling Company, which later became Cargill. She was an Accounts Receivable and Payroll Clerk for 43 years, from 1960-2003. Nancy was on the board of the Frontenac Historical Society and Museum and worked part-time as the deputy clerk for the town of Springport. She volunteered her time at the Faatz Crofut Home for the Elderly. Nancy is survived by her devoted family; her sisters, Ann Morrison, of Florida, Catherine (Edward) Hope, of Union Springs, and Claire (Andrew) Lehtonen, of Cayuga; her brothers, Edward (Linda) Tanner, of Union Springs and Michael (Sally) Tanner, of Eaton; her Aunt Louise Burke, of Port Byron; Uncle Coral W. (Phyllis) Tanner, of Florida and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her brother, Allen Tanner, in 1969. Friends may visit with her family from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at White Chapel Funeral Home Inc, 197 South St., Auburn. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, in St. Michael's Church in Union Springs. Burial will be held in the spring at St. Michael's Cemetery.
