Finger Lakes Health cut the ribbon Saturday on the latest phase of its 55 million dollar Journey to the Best expansion and renovation project.
Among the improvements at Geneva General Hospital are 100% private patient rooms with improved amenities for families and visitors, a renovated main lobby and a new 14-bed intensive care unit.
Finger Lakes Health Vice President Frank Korich has spearheaded the project. He says Journey to the Best takes a three-pronged approach to patient care.
We asked Korich about the "wow" factor when people first see the new facilities.
Finger Lakes Health CEO Doctor Jose Acevedo is proud of the work his team has done keeping one health care facility functioning while a new one goes up around them.
Acevedo says the project has been about giving patients the kind of experience they want.
The celebration includes treats from Red Jacket Orchards, Muranda Cheese, Finger Lakes Farms, Bagels and Cakes and Whisper Chocolates, music, a sled dog demonstration, a free showing of "Happy Feet" at the Smith Opera House and free ice skating at the Geneva Recreation Complex.
