Ontario County Man Convicted of Assaulting State Trooper

SHARE NOW

An Ontario County man has been convicted on several charges, including assaulting a police officer, following a jury trial in Ontario County Court.

District Attorney Jason MacBride says a jury found Miles Martin guilty of assault on a police officer, criminal mischief in the second degree, criminal contempt in the first degree, felony driving while intoxicated, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

The conviction stems from an incident in which a New York State trooper was injured while performing his official duties.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Timothy Boucher.

MacBride says assaulting a police officer is a serious crime and praised both the New York State Police and prosecutors for their work on the case.

Martin faces a mandatory minimum sentence of three-and-a-half years in state prison and could receive up to 15 years.

Sentencing is scheduled for April 2 in Ontario County Court before Judge Frederick Reed.
