Seneca Falls Police Warn Residents to Stay Off Canal Ice

SHARE NOW

The Seneca Falls Police Department is warning residents that the ice on the canal is extremely thin and unsafe.

Police Chief Timothy A. Snyder says walking, skating, fishing, or playing on the ice is very dangerous and could result in severe injury or death within minutes.

Parents are urged to talk to their children about the risks, and pet owners should keep animals away from the ice. Anyone who sees someone on the ice or in distress should call 911 immediately.

Authorities say public safety is their top priority and are asking the community to help prevent any accidents.
