Two Steuben County Sheriff’s deputies were honored this week for their quick thinking during a December arrest.
On December 12, Deputies Hurd and Andrews responded to a reported larceny. Police say the suspect resisted and pulled a knife, putting Deputy Hurd in immediate danger. Deputy Andrews quickly secured the weapon, and both deputies were able to take the suspect into custody safely, with no injuries.
Sheriff Jim Allard presented commendations to the deputies this week at the County Legislature’s Public Safety and Corrections Committee, praising their professionalism, teamwork, and leadership. He says their actions may have prevented serious injury or worse.
