
George Robert Tolone, 98, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Seneca Nursing & Rehab Center, Waterloo, N.Y.
The graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 12 in NYS Veterans Cemetery - Finger Lakes, Varick, N.Y.
George was born January 13, 1927 in Syracuse, N.Y., the son of George B. and Elizabeth M. Matills Tolone. He spent much of his life as a metal worker, a member of the Sheet Metal Worker's Union. George was a US Navy WWII veteran, and even drove a landing craft for LST 332 at Omaha Beach during the invasion of Normandy on D-Day.
George is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Tolone of Bellmore, N.Y.; children Marc (Sarah) Tolchin of N. Bellmore, N.Y., Dr. Eileen Kradel of AR, Kathleen Spiess of NM, Charlene Zemotel of Syracuse, N.Y., Mary Dockwiller of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Colleen Hamlin of Mattydale, N.Y., Joseph (Carol) Tolone of Baldwinsville, N.Y., and Darlene (Dan) Dinet of FL.
He was predeceased by his parents; sons Mitch, Michael, George, and Jimmy Tolone; brothers Dominick, Ralph, Joe, and Greg; and sisters Teresa DeFranco and Mary Tolone.
