1944-2026
Dundee: Robert Druker Sr., age 81, of Dundee, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, surrounded by his family. He was known to all as “POPS.” He was the protector of his family, a true family man.
The family invites friends to calling hours from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 26, at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water St., Dundee. Honoring his wishes, burial will be private at the conclusion of calling hours in Lakemont Cemetery, Hayes Road, Dundee.
Robert was born April 24, 1944, in Newark, New Jersey, one of three sons of the late Harry Meyer and Frances Pauline (Chirichello) Druker. Educated in the “School of Hard Knocks,” a lesson he made sure his boys learned as well. He entered the workforce as a welder, building heavy equipment for Caterpillar in Stanhope, New Jersey. On Dec. 11, 1966, in Maplewood Manor, New Jersey, he married the former Helen M. Cross.
In 1976, he moved his family to Dundee and worked for Midway Steel before accepting a position building pole barns for Griffith Construction, retiring in 2006. After retirement, he enjoyed helping his wife with her passion, HDR Stables, showing and breeding show horses. One of his passions was being out on the lake—any lake—fishing with family in search of the biggest bass.
He is loved and will be forever missed by his wife of 59 years, Helen M. Druker, at home; two sons, Robert (Valerie) Druker Jr. of Dundee and Chad (Stacy) Druker of Penn Yan; four grandchildren, Robert (Venessa) Druker III, Anthony Druker, Darian Druker, and Jessica Druker; four great-grandchildren, Brayden Davis, Kelsi Davis, Robert Druker IV, and Violet Druker; a brother, Joseph Druker of Hillsborough, New Jersey; several nieces and nephews, including Erika Rhodes and Aubrie Thornton; as well as many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his “bonus kids,” for whom he was a pivotal figure, and countless friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Chad Druker II, and a brother, David Druker.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
