A man already serving a lengthy prison sentence for a separate killing has been convicted in a second fatal shooting on Rochester’s northeast side.
A jury found Kyelon Marbury, 20, guilty of murder, four counts of criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of stolen property in connection with the April 23, 2023, drive-by shooting death of James Huff.
Authorities said Marbury and at least one other person opened fire on Huff, 31, as he was walking home on Webster Avenue. Huff was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators also determined that two days before the fatal shooting, Marbury had fired at a driver at random in the same area. The driver was not hit.
The conviction comes nearly four months after Marbury was found guilty in a separate case involving two shootings on February 18, 2023, including one that killed 35-year-old Jermaine Wilkins near Denver and Melville streets. Marbury was sentenced to 50 years to life in prison for that case on January 23.
Sentencing in the Huff case is scheduled for April 21.
